7 - Peloponesianico

 

Criar Peloponesianico foi um desafio imenso. Primeiro, porque a música veio muito desconexa no início—arpejos sem tonalidade definida, notas aleatórias, e eu não conseguia encontrar um caminho claro para estruturar tudo isso. Eu sabia que queria um Jazz Fusion bem trabalhado, com influências de jazz tradicional, funk e até elementos eletrônicos, mas fazer essas peças se encaixarem sem parecer forçado foi complicado.

Outro problema foi o tempo. Tive que esperar o Carnaval passar para conseguir me dedicar de verdade, e aí veio a pressão. Eu sabia que precisava finalizar, mas, ao mesmo tempo, a ansiedade e a cobrança interna estavam fortes. Eu lia e relia a partitura, tentava encontrar a melhor forma de articular as frases, de equilibrar os timbres, de manter o swing sem deixar tudo robotizado—e isso, sendo tudo feito com instrumentos virtuais, foi um desafio à parte.

A bateria, por exemplo, precisava soar humana, orgânica, mas sem perder a precisão dos tempos quebrados característicos do Fusion. A guitarra virtual exigiu um cuidado absurdo para que as articulações soassem naturais. Além disso, a música ficou longa, e chegou um momento em que percebi que estava ficando chata, repetitiva. Foi aí que decidi abrir espaço para improvisação, porque do jeito que estava, não ia funcionar.

No final, deu trabalho, mas ficou uma música fantástica. Foi difícil, me exigiu muito, tanto tecnicamente quanto emocionalmente, mas o resultado me deixou satisfeito.

Creating Peloponesianico was an immense challenge. First, because the music came very disjointed at the beginning—arpeggios without a defined tonality, random notes, and I couldn't find a clear way to structure all of it. I knew I wanted a well-crafted Jazz Fusion, with influences of traditional jazz, funk, and even electronic elements, but making these pieces fit together without feeling forced was complicated.

Another problem was the time. I had to wait for Carnival to pass to be able to truly dedicate myself, and then the pressure came. I knew I needed to finish, but at the same time, the anxiety and internal pressure were strong. I read and reread the score, trying to find the best way to articulate the phrases, to balance the timbres, to maintain the swing without making everything robotic—and this, being all done with virtual instruments, was a challenge in itself.

The drums, for example, needed to sound human, organic, but without losing the precision of the broken tempos characteristic of Fusion. The virtual guitar required an absurd amount of care to make the articulations sound natural. Moreover, the music became long, and there came a moment when I realized it was getting boring, repetitive. That's when I decided to make room for improvisation, because the way it was, it wasn't going to work.

In the end, it was a lot of work, but it turned out to be a fantastic song. It was difficult, it demanded a lot from me, both technically and emotionally, but the result left me satisfied.
